The procedure is performed under local or general anaesthesia. The incision begins at the hairline near the temples, continues in front of the ear, around the earlobe, and extends into the hair behind the ear. We lift the skin, tighten the underlying tissue, and then reattach the skin. The scar lies in a natural crease in front of the ear and is barely visible.

Bruising and swelling may occur for at least a week following the procedure.
