Yet perhaps the new year does not have to mean becoming someone else. Perhaps it can simply be a moment to pause – and to ask yourself what would make you feel more comfortable in your own skin.
Many women carry certain thoughts with them for years. Thoughts about their body. About changes that occurred after pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or simply over time. Thoughts about breasts that no longer feel quite right, eyelids that appear heavier, or facial features that no longer reflect how they feel inside.
Often, these thoughts are quietly set aside. There is always something more urgent. Family, work, responsibilities. And so, the idea of change is postponed – not dismissed but delayed.

A consultation is not a decision
What I often emphasise in my practice for plastic surgery in Bern is this: a consultation is not a commitment to surgery or any other procedure. It is not a promise. And it is certainly not pressure.
A consultation is a conversation.
It is a space to ask questions, to understand what is possible – and just as importantly, what is not. It is an opportunity to talk openly about wishes, concerns and doubts, and to receive honest, medical guidance based on experience.
Whether the topic is breast surgery – such as breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction – or a more subtle treatment like an eyelid correction or wrinkle treatment, the goal of a first consultation is clarity, not persuasion.
My role as a plastic surgeon is not to convince, but to inform.
Taking time instead of rushing
Especially at the start of the year, many women (and men) feel a quiet inner shift. Not urgency – but readiness. A sense that now might be a good moment to finally look at a topic that has been present for a long time.
This does not mean acting quickly. On the contrary.
Good decisions in aesthetic surgery are rarely made overnight. They develop over time through reflection, information, and trust. Allowing yourself that time is often the most important step.
In my daily work, I see how valuable it is when women approach this process calmly and without external pressure. When expectations are realistic. When questions are welcome. And when the decision – whatever it may be – feels truly their own.
Experience, honesty and discretion
As a board-certified specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FMH, FEBOPRAS), I have accompanied many women through the consultation and decision-making process over the years. Each story is different. Each motivation personal.
What remains constant is my approach: medical precision, honest advice, and respect for your pace.
Sometimes a consultation leads to a clear plan. Sometimes it leads to reassurance – and no treatment at all. Both outcomes are equally valid.
Because aesthetic medicine should never be about pressure. It should be about feeling understood, informed and safe.
A quiet beginning
Perhaps this new year does not call for bold resolutions. Perhaps it simply invites a conversation – with yourself, and if you wish, with an experienced plastic surgeon.
A consultation comes without obligation. But it can offer insight, perspective and peace of mind.
And sometimes, that is exactly the right way to begin.
If you would like to talk and arrange a consultation in my practice in Bern, I am here.
Your journey. Your timing.
